Papers of Shelah Kane Scott, 1880-1960.

The collection contains a daguerreotype, tintypes and photographs, 1873, 1892, and n.d., of Bryan family members and friends, including one of "Doug" [Douglas Harrison Chelf Dabney?] to "Mandy" [Amanda Stewart Bryan Kane?] Other photographs include snapshots from a European trip, 1923, of scenes in England, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, and Turkey. There are also snapshots, 1964 and n.d., of miscellaneous scenes. The collection also contains letters, 1952 August 8 and 1954 September 17, Frances Perkins to Scott congratulating her on her marriage and the birth of her first child. There is also a directory, 1929, of members of the Leander Club, Henley-on-Thames.

Frances Perkins (born Fannie Coralie Perkins; April 10, 1880 – May 14, 1965) was an American sociologist and workers-rights advocate who served as the U.S. Secretary of Labor from 1933 to 1945, the longest serving in that position, and the first woman appointed to the U.S. Cabinet.
